We are seeking a results-oriented Controller responsible for the firm’s
accounting function. This position will also assist the CFO, COO and other firm
management in providing financial analyses, budgets, expense reviews, billing
and collections oversight, conflicts management and development of cost saving
recommendations in efforts to enhance the financial performance of the firm.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the timely preparation of the monthly financial
statements including written analysis of trends, comparisons to budget,
and projections of expected results
• Prepares consolidated forecasts and budgets and analyzes trends in
revenue, expense, capital expenditures, compensation and other
expense variances relative to budget. Identifies action plans to address
actual to budget variances and meets regularly with management to
discuss suggested actions.
• Provide oversight of cash collections and accounts receivable
management and when required provide direct interaction with clients
regarding past due amounts.
• Manages accounting department costs to stay within approved budget
parameters.
• Prepares financial and business related analysis of various practices of
the firm. Provides appropriate benchmark and market place
performance indicators to firm management in efforts to provide for
profit enhancements related to billing improvements, cost savings,
productivity improvements and efficiency.
• Review accounting processes in efforts to enhance the financial
management systems of the firm.
Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of accounting and financial management principles.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible related work
experience in an accounting function in a professional service firm.
• Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in personal and fiduciary
matters.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with a diverse group of
attorneys and staff.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Crystal Reporting and a working
knowledge of Thompson Elite Enterprise time and billing is a significant
advantage.
• Bachelor Degree (B.S.) in Accounting or Finance. MBA and/or CPA
preferred but not required. Professional service firm experience
required. Law firm experience is a significant advantage.
